Card for a 50th birthday

I was asked to make a card for a dad to give to his son who is 50 on 6th June. 'David' lives in The Circus in Bath and his dad asked for something depicting that beautiful piece of architecture. I happen to know that David loves sepia images of towns etc so I found this image of The Circus taken in Victorian times. The backing papers are from Crafters Companion Mens Collection 1.
Any comments would be appreciated - thank you xxx

Latest card

Made this for a friends upcoming birthday. Tried printing direct onto card with the new machine and am very impressed with the result :-) Just hope she doesn't look at my blog until after her birthday now LOLOLOLOL

Update on card demonstration earlier today

I got to the venue about 10 minutes early and got some very strange looks from some of the people what had gathered outside. Bernie had dropped me off before setting off to a scrap-yard to look for yet more bits for the car and he asked if I was going to be okay. I waited outside until my mum came and I went in with her. I was greeted with a cup of tea and the ice began to melt a bit. Everyone finally arrived about 2.10pm and the gentleman that runs the club went through the normal business of birthdays., announcements etc etc etc. Then he came towards me with his microphone in his hand and introduced me to everyone. I was terrified LOLOLOL. I set myself up at one of the tables and began to show them how to do the kits that I had taken along then asked if anyone would like to join in. I was really surprised at the amount of people that said yes. 17 out of 27 people joined in and it turned into a really nice afternoon. I handed out the kits I had prepared and went round each table giving a quick demo on how to put them together and they dived in. Every body made one card and they were all over the moon and have asked if I can come back again at some stage and do something else with them. I even had the gentlemen crafting and they too enjoyed it. I didn't have the heart to charge them £3 each kit as they were sharing mostly so I just asked them for £1 each so came away with £17 and a bunch of elderly people have all gone home very happy this afternoon. I really enjoyed it after getting over my initial nerves. xx

New Scanner - yippee :-)

Well, after being quoted a price for a new power pack that was MORE than the cost of a new scanner, we sorted out our finances today and, along with some money my mum gave me too, I bought a new one - in fact a new all-in-one machine so I know have a printer that will take card stock too so I am even happier now and it was all under £50. I am going to have to have a play with the settings as I was used to my old one and this one is a lot different so bear with me when I upload my pictures for a while as they may be a bit odd until I find my way round the settings LOLOL

I have made this as a thank you card for someone using a technique I saw Wendie Rhodes demonstrate on Ideal World both yesterday and today. Put some bleach into either a small jar and use a paintbrush or out it into a brush pen. Put your chosen peel off onto your card and wash the bleach over the peel off. When its dry, remove the peel off. The smell of the bleach will dissipate (I promise) but what a lovely effect.

Soggy Friday LOL

Good morning everyone and welcome to a rather damp and soggy Friday here in the Eastern Counties. Its been pouring with rain most of the night and has graciously decided to stop for a breather right now but every where outside my window is soaked - hopefully I won't be one of them later on LOL I've got some hanging baskets to plant up at a clients house this morning and he doesn't have a green house so I shall be outside exposed to the elements. I'll be okay so long as it doesn't rain. And if we get much more rain, the fish in the pond will be popping their noses over the edge of the pond to say hello every morning LOL
I have a card making demonstration to give this afternoon. I am really looking forward to that. never done one before and have no idea what will happen so just have to go with the flow I guess. I will report back in later and tell you all how it went - good or bad LOL.
So I shall say ta-ta for now and wish you all a happy day xxx Take care everyone xxx

1st mat & Layer name on Craft Robo LOL

How sad am I LOLOLOL. I thought it was about time I got to grips with the Design Master Software that came with my craft robo at the beginning of the year. I have been wanted to do matting and layering for a while now and saw the demo on create and craft recently and decided it was time to give it a try. I duly went to the crafty club website and downloaded the tutorials and printed out the ones I needed. After making a few mistakes, it all finally fell into place and I succeeded in making my first name with its own mat. So I can go to bed having learnt something new today - yippee xxx
Night night all and sleep tight xxx

Weigh in

Well, despite feeling under the weather, I decided that I was still going to go for my weigh in this evening and I am so glad I did. I have lost 2lbs this week :-). I am now just 1/2 lb off my max target weight and just 3 1/2lb from my set target weight. Not long to go so long as I can keep it up. And I must have cycled like a possessed demon on the way home cos it was raining and I was determined I wasn't going to get wet LOLOL. Other than that, I've not done much other than stayed snuggled in a my bed for a while. I watched Lara Craft Tome Raider this afternoon (shows how bored I was LOL) and got a nice glimpse of Daniel Craig in the shower - so hasn't been all bad today LOL Poor hubby-to-be took himself off to the scrap yard with his mum to try and find a bit for the car that's gone wrong. He has sort of fixed it until he can figure it out properly. And now he has had to go to work til 1am but at least the car got him there without any major problems and fingers crossed it will get him home again at 1am LOL
Hope you all have a lovely evening. Take care till next time & stay safe xxxx

Poorly today :-(

Hi all, I am typing this whilst lying in bed as I'm a bit off colour today :-( Nothing too serious so I'll be back on my feet before you know it.

We had a thunder storm over night and whilst its still damp outside, the air does feel clearer this morning.

I was busy making up yet more cards for the Dachshund Dog show on Sunday and think I will call it a day soon on that. I don't want to end up with loads left over with no other outlet for them.

I am also getting ready for a card making demonstration that I am doing on Friday afternoon - looking forward to that.

Hope you are all well - enjoy your day xxx

4 months to go

OH my goodness, in exactly 4 months time, I shall be marrying my Black Knight - the man of my dreams and my soul mate :-) Thankfully most things have fallen into place okay and there's not a lot left to do now. But the wedding rings we ordered arrived today and I am having to send them back. I specifically ordered the white gold version and they have sent the yellow gold version. But to be fair to the company, they were very good on the phone when I rang this morning and plans are already in place to get the order right and for me to send the rings back to them. I am not about to bitch about them until they have had a fair chance of getting it right. There is still time to get it sorted out. Other than that, everything else is ticking along nicely :-)
The weather for the eastern counties is grotty today - it poured with rain all night and whilst it isn't raining at the moment, you can just feel it's there in the air waiting to fall on some unsuspecting person later in the day. I just hope its not me - I don't feel 100% as it is today and could do without getting wet later when I have to go back out again. Hope its better where ever you are. If you do read this, please leave me a comment and let me know what the weather is like in your neck of the woods xx
Ta-ta for now until the next time xx

Charity cards

A friend of mine is doing some car boot sales to raise money for Macmillan Nurses so I threw these together for her tonight and will post them to her tomorrow. Hope she raises loads of money for such a worthy cause xxx

My brother and his girlfriend moved into a new place last week and my mum asked me to make a card for them to wish them good luck in their new home. I hope she likes what I came up with. My brother will hate it cos its very "chintz" but Carrie will like it LOL

Yucky Bank Holiday Monday

Hi everyone, what awful weather we are having here in the Eastern Counties. Its been pouring with rain all day with no sign of stopping either. Still, means I have a good excuse not to go out and to spend the rest of the afternoon crafting so behind every cloud there's a silver lining LOL.

My sister rang me about a Christening she is going to soon and asked me to make her a card. So I hope she likes what I have come up with

I used my craft robo to cut out the parts for the high chair and the box and the papers are from the Crafters Companion CD Everyday papers Vol 2 (although don't hold me to that as I can't be sure LOL).

I have some more orders to get on with this afternoon so I had better get my rear in gear and get on with them - catch up with you soon xxx

What a wet Sunday :-(

Hi all, what awful weather we are having here in the Eastern Counties. Its been raining all day and shows no signs of stopping at the moment. Currently watching Create and Craft after having done the ironing for the week. I also watched the F1 Grand Prix from Monaco - well done Lewis Hamilton on a great win. So nice to see his dad and brother there to see him win. Haven't really done much else today really as am having a chilled out day. I will probably go upstairs to the hobbit room later once Bern has gone to work and catch up on some card orders.
Hope you are all having a good day and enjoying whatever you are doing xxx

Today is my sons birthday

I am off into town soon with my son, Tristan, who is 26 today - we are going out for lunch and then he is off out with his friends tonight to celebrate properly LOL
The weather is nice today albeit a tad windy. So far, I have done the washing, hung it out, done some gardening (hacked an overgrown shrub to bits if the truth be known) and got another load of washing in the machine. Got to make the most of the good drying weather today as the weather report for the next few days isn't so good so I will have a good excuse to sit upstairs later in the hobbit room and get on with some cards for the Dog show next week.
Right, Tristan is here now so I shall say ta-ta and catch you later xxx
Have a nice day all xxxxxxxxxxx

Cloudy start to the day again ...

Good morning all, bit cloudy here in the Eastern Counties this morning and it doesn't look like its going to improve much either - oh well last day at work before the weekend - and I have 3 days off (heaven LOL).
I was asked to make a card for a mans daughter with a musical theme and something Welsh on it. So I came up with this but I'm not sure if I like it or not. I will take it round to him today and if he doesn't like it, I have a day or so to do something else

Its so hard sometimes to come up with something that a client specifically requests as sometimes they give you too much information and the card can end up looking "over-cooked" so to speak. Still, all I can do is take it to him and see what he says, just because I don't particularly like it doesn't mean to say someone else does - each to their own as they say.
Right, off to get sorted for work now so have a good day everyone and take care xxxx

Murky Thursday

Good morning all from a rather cloudy and murky Eastern Counties. The sun is trying its best to force its way through the clouds but it looks like the fight is going to go all the way to the last bell, but it doesn't look like its going to give up without a good fight so lets all cheer on the sun and help it on its way. If you could all open your windows and blow at the clouds, I'm sure we can help to disperse the clouds.
Got a reasonable day today workwise and I'm on my own again this evening as Bern is working so I shall be back to the card making this evening.
Have a good day everyone xxx

New card - took me all evening LOL

After watching a demo on C & C on Monday, I decided to have a go myself and here is the result. I have the template for the matching box but haven't made that just yet. And I'm supposed to be making a birthday card for Friday - Oops - but got carried away with what I was doing. The images are from Joanna Sheen's Victorian Romance CD. Hope you like it xxx

Slimming World disaster :-(

Well I have been for a weigh in this evening hoping to have lost just 1lb which would have put me back into my target range - and instead I put in 1 1/2lb. That will teach me to pig out on cream cakes and stuff at my parents anniversary tea last Sunday LOL. So I guess you could say that my gain was completely justified. I shall try and do better this week and hope for a good loss next week. I have a wedding dress to get into in September LOL.
Its been a lovely day here in the Eastern Counties today - got all my washing done and dried out on the new washing line today. Bern and me popped to Tesco's for a few odds and ends then came home and he played on his xbox 360 and I caught up on some e-mails and started on a card for a couple celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary in June. The gentleman that has ordered the card is going to try and get a copy of their marriage certificate and I will contact Buckingham Palace to see if we can get them a telegram from the Queen which I think will be a lovely surprise for them both.
And now I have to go as I've just had a phone call for a card order to be delivered on Friday - I do love clients that give me plenty of warning LOL.
Have a lovely evening everyone and I'll catch up with you soon

Lovely lovely Wednesday morning

Good morning everyone and what a lovely start to the day here in the Eastern Counties. Its not overly sunny but it has potential so fingers crossed for a good day.

Went to a craft club last night with my friend Dawn and as usual we had a good laugh at poor Sue's expense but she takes it all in good spirits and she is such a lovely lady xxx

We were given 2 projects last night and here is what we did. The large cat card caused great amusement and was fun to do

I only have a short day work wise today but need to go shopping this afternoon but then it will be back to the grindstone this evening LOL

Take care all and have a good day xx

Evening all .................

Phew, it stayed dry today but it was a bit nippy. I came close to putting the heating on, but I managed to resist - my hobbit room is normally quite warm and I end up having to put the ceiling fan on anyway. So what has everyone been up to today? Whatever it was, I hope you gave it your best xx

I know I was supposed to be making up more cards for the Dog Show but I also had a card to make for a gentleman's niece who will be 10 on the 26th May. He wasn't too keen on a High School Musical theme and wanted something different - so I do hope he likes what I came up with, (he normally does). I have made a HUGE card. I figure that if the embellishments on a card are going to take it above the 5mm minimum for a standard stamp, them why not take it the whole hog and go for big and bold. If its going to have a large stamp slapped on it, it might as well warrant it LOL

Welcome to Monday from the hobbit room

Morning all, and here is the weather from the eastern Counties. Plenty of sunshine and some cloud this morning which should remain steady for the rest of the day. So it looks like I will be dry on my bike today (touch wood). It got chilly last night and I had to put the heating on just to take the chill off for an hour or two. I think that was more to do with the fact that we'd been sitting outside at my mums in the afternoon and I'd got cold there. We had a nice time though and a good laugh with the family so it made up for it. I was glad to back home and get warm though. Bern had to work last night so I came up to my hobbit room and got stuck into making some stock cards for the Dog Show - the results of which I posted yesterday. I shall do some more tonight as Bern is at work from 5pm til 1am tonight and I have nothing else to do once I get in from work later today.

Well I shall love you all and leave you for now - have a good day and leave me some comments if you read this xxx

Doggy style cards ........

Come on - get your minds out of the gutter - this is a family site LOLOL. A friend of mine is the Vice Chairman of the Eastern Counties Dachshund Association and they have 2 shows a year in St. Neots. The first one is in June and the 2nd one is always on November. For the past 2 years, I have been invited to have a stall at the show with the proviso being that the majority of my cards depict dachshunds so I scour the t'internet for suitable pictures and breeders let me use photo's of their own dogs too. I don't have to pay anything to the club for my table and all the proceeds are mine but this year I will give some back to the NCDL (which is the charity that the couple on the next table to me run their bric-a-brac table for). Here's just a couple of the cards I have made so far.

I have decided to go with plain generic cards this year that simply say "Just to say..." cos you can bet your bottom dollar that if they say happy birthday, some one will want an anniversary and vice versa. The inserts simply say "just to say ..." as well.
Last year I did full decoupage and they took me for ever, so this year I am doing pyramage and its a lot quicker. I will also be doing just plain matting and layering too.
I am going to do a selection in the 3 varieties of Dachs too - wires, smooth and long hairs.

Sunny Sunday and tea with mother later LOL

Well what a beautiful day to wake up to today - few clouds in the air, bit windy but lots of blue sky and sunshine at the moment. AND craft day on Ideal World - what could spoil it?

Well, on the 6th May my parents celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary but as they were busy they are having a get together this afternoon for the family. So we have all been summoned to attend at 2pm LOLOL. Mum is laying on some food so it should be okay and we'll only been there for a couple of hours - Bern has to go to work tonight so will want to be away by about half four.

Hope you are all going to have a lovely Sunday xxxxxx

Sons birthday card

My son, Tristan, well be 26 on Saturday 24th May and he likes dragons, so I have made him this card tonight. Its a large card with the backing being 1 whole sheet of A4 card. I shall be so glad when I get my scanner sorted out as I do miss it :-(

Soggy Saturday

Hi all, what a groggy day its been today - it was wet this morning when I went to work, it was wet when I came home from work (it very kindly stopped when I was just 50 yds from home!!!), and its not too great now - but I don't care now as I'm not going out any where LOL

Made a card for a fellow cat lover so I hope she likes it

My signature code seems to have gone walk-abouts today but not to worry , its probably just stretching its legs a bit xx

Hope you are all well

T.F.I.FRIDAY ....................

What a wet dreary day here in the eastern counties - its wet wet wet all around and pretty grotty. Looks like I'm going to need my wet weather gear this morning.
I thought I would show you some of the cards I have made up from a kit I bought from QVC recently - these are my normal style of cards but I thought they would be okay for "quick makes and quick sell" when I do some shows and events. Again the quality of the photo's is rubbish cos of my scanner's demise - I do hope I get it sorted soon
